Pre-Care & Post-Care
Pre-Care
Here are some things to avoid and to keep in mind prior to your appointment. Please note that by booking an appointment you agree to follow the guidelines below. Failure to do so will drastically effect the healed results of your service.
No alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment.
No extreme sun exposure. Sunburnt skin cannot be worked on.
No exfoliating treatments such as microdermabrasion, laser, derma planing, chemical peels etc for 2-4 weeks prior to your appointment.
Refrain from taking blood thinning medications such as Advil, Ibuprofen, fish oil etc for 72 hours prior to your appointment.
No caffeine the day of your appointment.
No working out the day of your appointment.
No waxing, threading or sugaring for 3 days leading up to your appointment.
If you plan on getting Botox/Dysport please do so at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
Accutane must be discontinued for 1 whole year prior to receiving any cosmetic tattooing.
If you are using Retin-A or Retinol products discontinue use 7 days prior to appointment. Keep in mind that prolonged use of these products in the brow area will lighten and in some cases change the color of your permanent makeup over time.
Post-Care
Here are a few things to expect after your first cosmetic tattoo appointment.
Prior to your appointment you’ll be emailed detailed aftercare instructions that you and your artist will go over together before you leave to ensure that you fully understand how to care for your new brows.
Your eyebrows will appear darker and more intense immediately after and a few days following your appointment. In the first week or so flaking will start occurring as your body heals itself. Once the dark pigment has come off it will reveal much softer, more natural looking color that mimics real hair. It is not uncommon for them to fade significantly after the first session. Since permanent makeup is a layering process that requires a second session the touchup appointment is where your artist will reinforce and edit whatever needs to be perfected, leaving you with the brows you’ve always wanted.
Please plan accordingly for your healing process. For the two weeks following your appointment there is no excessive sweating, saunas, pools, jacuzzis etc. Keeping your brows dry will ensure the best results. No direct sunlight, sunbathing. When out in the sun please wear a hat and or large sunglasses. Once healed sunscreen directly on your brows will protect the pigment and keep them from fading prematurely. Overuse of acids, retinol etc in the area will also cause fading. Be mindful as these are your new brows and you’ll want to keep them looking good as long as possible.
Please note that individual results vary.
